Since it has been released, the Stellaris universe has been getting ever larger. What with player mods adding new races (most being blatantly taken from other popular science fiction universes like Mass Effect and Warhammer) and new game mechanics, the developers have finally decided to get in on the action and take a break from mid-game patches
It's a thirty second teaser clip found here on youtube, but the title kind of puts it all out there for you to see. The announcement from Paradox Interactive reads that 'this first species pack will be called Plantoids, and, as its name suggests, will introduce sentient plant life to the universe of Stellaris. Instead of becoming salad or animal fodder, these plants have reached for the stars and begun to spread their tendrils across the galaxy, planting the roots of new civilizations on new planets.'
Which, I won't lie, sounds really cool. Set to come August 4th, this DLC pack will contain new ship types to go along with the new species type (remember, plantoids are not currently a species type) and 15 new player usable portraits and a city background portrait fitting for the plantoids.
